Sara Cooley's Impossible Things Art Blog

As a child one of my favorite pastimes was to watch and play video games. I loved discovering the new worlds and all of the different life and stories within. In my work I want to bring this feeling of discovery and adventure to the viewer. I want to immerse them in the possibilities of the unknown and explore new spaces, heroes, villains, and species.

I try to combine reality and history to make the most believable worlds possible, while still being firmly rooted in fantasy. I do extensive research on culture and societal norms before beginning a piece and use this research to build convincing concept pieces.

My work reflects my interests in Steampunk, Cyberpunk, Medieval/Renaissance/Feudal society, as well as more whimsical elements like Alice in Wonderland and Mythologies from all over the globe. With every piece I do I try to push it further than my last, whether it be in concept or in execution. I want to challenge what people expect when they think of fantasy and give them places and people that they wouldn’t have considered before.

Not dead, just working

So I got a job at a local game studio (same one i was at a while ago) and I’m gone about 12 hours a day, Monday-Friday AND ON TOP OF THAT my laptop is still not back from getting fixed.

SO.

I’m not allowed to show you guys anything from work, but..maybe, MAYBE, around Thanksgiving I can at least get some sketchbook work done to share with you.

Sorry about being so inactive, I really am. I’ve been neglecting things due to lack-of-time and my missing computer but….I’m doing my best, really.

Thanks for everything whose still sticking with me!

Sorry for the lack of updates!

I’m not dead, but my laptop fan is. So it’s currently on it’s merry little way to get fix and until then I’m using a borrowed computer with no drawing program.

Not awesome.

SO, I will still be doing some sketchbook stuff but huge pieces have been put on hold for oh…a week or two.

More stuff will come as soon as I get it back and working though, I promise.
